AYSO SYV Welcomes Joshua Jones as Region Commissioner
Posted: April 2, 2025
On February 18, 2025, the AYSO Region 180 Board elected Joshua Jones of Solvang to the role of Region Commissioner. Jones held his first meeting of the Region 180 Board on March 18, 2025.
Josh played in AYSO Core programs in his youth and became involved with Region 180 as a parent in 2014. He has been a region certified referee since 2016 and also began coaching in 2016 with U10, U12, and U14 certifications. Though his daughter aged out of our programs a couple years ago, Josh has stuck around. In January, 2025, Josh assisted our Tournament Organizer, Angie Owens in hosting our 2025 Winter Classic Tournament. Josh just returned from AYSO Expo 2025 in San Diego with new certifications as a Goalkeeper Trainer and Regional Coach Trainer
Josh has this to share about why he has stepped into this role:
Youth sports organizations play a foundational role within our communities. They provide our youth with a place away from home and school where parents and guardians can feel confident that their players are safe and having fun while learning new skills in sport, thriving through challenges, building resilience and fostering friendships that they will carry with them as they grow.
Now, more than ever in our greater cultural history, we need organizations like AYSO to feel the full support of our community as part of the greater cause of raising great humans while bringing people together. AYSO is a 501c3 nonprofit organization run almost entirely on volunteer effort with rigorous volunteer training and screening.
Helping to keep this region available for our players and friends and thriving into the future checks all the boxes as being a great and worthy cause that I can fully and faithfully put my effort behind.
________
Please join the Region 180 Board in welcoming Josh to his new role with our team. We’re excited for the future ahead of us and look forward to working together to share our love of soccer to the Santa Ynez Valley community.
All AYSO Board members are volunteers, including the Region Commissioner. If you're interested in joining our board, we would love to hear from you.
